What the site is for

NameWren offers general information about given names: meanings, origins, pronunciations, styles and popularity, plus tools such as the name finder, quizzes and a shortlist. It is for personal, non-commercial use.

Accuracy

We research every page and link our sources, but name histories are often debated and data can change. We do not promise that every detail is complete or current. Popularity data comes from the U.S. Social Security Administration and is shown as published, rounded into ranks. Please check anything important, such as a name’s meaning in a particular language or culture, with a source you trust.

No guarantees about outcomes

Match scores, quiz results and sound notes are suggestions built from simple rules. They do not predict anything about a person, and we are not responsible for a choice you make based on them.

Our content

The text, design, scores, charts and code on NameWren belong to us or are used with permission. You may share links and short quotes with credit. Do not copy whole pages, republish our name descriptions or scrape the site to build another product without written permission.
